Security Operatives attached to the Rivers State Government stormed the residence of the immediate past Chief of Staff, Goernment House Port- Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha.
According to EAB, the Security operatives impounded and removed an armoured Range Rover belonging to the immediate past official of the Government House from his residence in Obio/ Akpor LGA around 9am.
Precisely two weeks ago in a similar act, a Lexus SUV was removed from the residence of the former state Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari while she was away.It was gathered that the vehicle was taken away without any resistance.
Government officials had insisted that the armoured Range Rover belonged to Rivers State and not any individual.
When Okocha was contacted to comment on the recent development, He maintained that the vehicle was of his 'status car' which the law allowed him to own after his service as a Government House Chief of staff. He further revealed that he was in Abuja to observe the Rivers Election Tribunal when he was informed that his vehicle had been taken away on the orders of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Chief Tony Okocha
In his words, "I am not surprised by Wike's action, rather I am surprised at the introduction of militarism into Democracy." he concluded.
Okocha is the Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Obio Akpor local government area.
EAB: The present Government of Rivers State need to focus on achieving and exploring more ways to improve the welfare of its citizens rather that pursuing past officials who will in no way contribute to the growth of the state's economy.
